KRISTINE BYARS

Painting is a passion I inherited from my grandmother.  Born and raised in Wisconsin, my parents created a strong foundation, instilling in me a great love of nature, the outdoors, and all creatures. During visits to my grandparent’s dairy farm, my grandmother encouraged my sisters and me to draw and paint at a very early age.

I take pride in what I do.  My style is rooted in optimism and nostalgically capturing life. My primary medium is oil on canvas, using my own photography as a subject matter whenever possible.  The use of bold color and interesting situations result in paintings sparking warm emotion.

Working many years as a graphic artist, I gained a wide range of artistic versatility beyond my first love of painting. From illustrating the children’s book Montana The Police Horse to designing and painting large wall murals for the chimpanzees at H.S.U.S. Black Beauty Ranch animal sanctuary.  I have work hanging in both private and permanent public collections and represented in several Texas galleries.

Inspiration is gained for me through world travel and my own back yard.  I cherish our small towns and National Parks. My husband Steve and I divide our time between Dallas and beautiful East Texas.  Our Golden Retriever and Horse complete the family.

My goal as an artist is to capture the personalities, images, and moments that make life wonderful.
