Stemming from a desire to be acquainted with the material and to test the evocative power of forms, my work is essentially just that, an exploration into matter and forms. The initial phase consists in discovering what the medium has to offer. Only then will a concept emerge to which I will further give form. The process allows for a fair amount of unpredictability as a way to impersonate nature. The idea or concept behind my pieces is only secondary to the matter and is large if not exclusively informed by the particular material I am using. It follows then that many of my pieces, abstract or figurative, recall geological configurations. My ultimate objective is to create worlds evocative of a milieu that is both familiar and strange, capable of eliciting contemplation and emotion.
